When production processes need to become faster, more precise, and more cost-effective at the same time, a solution tailored to the specific requirements is often needed. This was precisely the challenge facing our new customer in the plastics processing industry: For the automated production of injection-molded parts, a mold cylinder needed to be controlled reliably, compactly, and with minimal operational effort. The goal was to completely replace a multi-step manual process.
Precise pressure and speed control in a compact design
The requirement was for a compact, stand-alone unit that receives commands directly from the injection molding machine. A particular challenge was that only three 24V control signals from the machine were available for control. At the same time, precise pressure and speed control of the mold cylinder had to be ensured to achieve consistently high component quality.
Our solution: A powerful combination of Bosch Rexroth CytroPac, a multi-Ethernet valve, and a control cabinet with a Siemens PLC. This resulted in a compact, high-performance, and future-proof hydraulic solution that integrates seamlessly into the existing process. The combination of hydraulics and intelligent control ensures high process reliability and significantly simplified operation.
Quickly implemented – sustainably improved
In addition to the technical precision required, the tight timeline posed a particular challenge. The entire project was successfully completed in just a few months—quickly, efficiently, and in close coordination with the client. The results speak for themselves: the previously multi-step manual process has been completely eliminated. This translates to increased output, greater cost efficiency, and a noticeable reduction in the workload of day-to-day production. That’s exactly what modern process optimization looks like—compact, precise, and cost-effective.
