Compact hydraulic unit for a pelletizing plant.

Compact hydraulic unit for a pelletizing plant.

Explosion-proof according to the ATEX zone 2 design and true to the Japanese test specifications.

Eurofluid Hydraulik GmbH, based in Tulln, Austria, manufactured a hydraulic unit with an optimized installation space for a pelletizing plant in just two months on behalf of a global technology leader operating in the pelletizing segment. Since the hydraulic system was intended for the Japanese market, the special, customary overseas standard requirements had to be observed here too.

According to the manufacturer’s specifications, the unit was designed to be as compact as possible, measuring a mere 540 x 600 x 433 mm including the pressure gage. We opted for a conventional and proven unit design. To achieve the required liter capacity or delivery rate, we took the electric motor’s special speed into account when designing the gear pump.

Thanks to the high-quality ATEX zone 2 components installed, such as the electric motor and solenoid valve, the pelletizing machine can be easily used in an explosion-proof manner in a particularly critical working environment.

Custom-made hydraulics for special overseas standards.

According to the Japanese specifications, the plant’s electric motor had to be tested with the Japanese special voltage. A specifically developed adapter cable for connecting was used here. Good and regular communication was one of the clear success factors in a complex international project.

The most important information about the project:

  • Implementation time: October 2018 – December 2018
  • Client requirements: ATEX zone 2 protected hydraulic unit, compact design, for use in Japan
  • Our solution: a proven unit design with ATEX components, pressure: 200 bar, volumetric flow rate: gear pump approx. 1.0 l/min, valve technology: 4/3-way, solenoid valve (Parker) ATEX, oil tank: 2.5 l, electric motor: 0.55 kW Japanese unit, 3 x 220 V, 1715 rpm, 60 Hz
  • Special features: Testing using the Japanese special voltage
