Space-optimized hydraulic unit for a laboratory mill.

Hydraulikaggregat Laborwalzwerk

Precise axis control and monitoring in a compact hydraulic system.

On behalf of a renowned special machine manufacturer, we were commissioned to carry out the planning, production and commissioning of a hydraulic unit for a laboratory mill.

Laboratory mills are used for the discontinuous plasticizing, mixing, kneading and testing of plastic masses for their quality and processing properties. Due to the compact system size that the customer requires, it was necessary to make the size as small as possible and at the same time implement the reliable roll adjustment via two axes, as well as with a built-in emergency stop control.

This is how we solved the task:

The complete hydraulic system including the axis controller and various safety functions were created in only 12 weeks. The synchronization of both axes is carried out very quickly and precisely via two control valves and one positioning module. A memory circuit supplies the control valves and opens the roll adjustment in the event of an emergency stop. Special seat valves with safety position switches are used for the reliable position monitoring of the emergency stop function.

In order to accommodate the unit in the machine frame, the entire hydraulic system was designed precisely by our engineering teams in accordance with the requirements specifications. All components were procured and assembled on-site at the customer's site and put into operation.

The most important thing about the project:

  • Implementation time: 12 weeks.
  • Customer requirements: Synchronization control through 2 axes for optimal roll adjustment, position monitored valves.
  • Our solution: Hydraulic unit with synchronization control, circuit memory and emergency stop function. System pressures: 215 bar piston pump, 75 bar gear pump. Flow rates: 2.7L/min and 7.2l/min.
  • Special features: The small size of the unit.
